My work as a photographer is rooted in the natural world and in a search for experiences of awe.

Again and again, I find myself drawn to places of great silence and vastness. In such landscapes, the noise of everyday life falls away and something else emerges: a heightened awareness of the world around us and our place within it.

SoulScapes emerged from this search.

This book is about the desert, not deserts. Geographical references are intentionally absent, leaving space for imagination and elemental ambiguity.

We live in a world where so much is named and labelled. SoulScapes emerged from a desire to preserve a sense of mystery and the freedom to contemplate without naming.

We spend so much of our lives in our heads. With SoulScapes, I wanted to create a space where the viewer might set aside the rational mind for a moment and engage first through the senses. To feel the cold light of dawn, the fierce heat of midday, the movement of wind and sand, the spaciousness of the landscape and the profound silence that inhabits these places.

More than a book to be looked at, SoulScapes is intended as an experience to be felt. It is an invitation to slow down, to pause, and perhaps to reconnect with a sense of wonder.
